Your salary
Add bonuses, taxable allowances, or a second income here. It’s taxed together with your salary, the same way FBR assesses annual taxable income.
This year vs last year — same income
Last year this income also paid the 9% surcharge (Section 4AB) on top — Rs 0 of your old tax. Finance Act 2026 removed it for salaried earners.
How it’s calculated — slab by slab
Pakistan taxes salary progressively: each slab’s rate applies only to the slice of income inside it, never to your whole salary. Here is your income moving through the eight FY 2026-27 slabs.
The eight slabs, FY 2026-27
First Schedule, salaried individuals, Finance Act 2026. Your current slab is highlighted.
| Annual taxable income | Tax formula | Marginal rate |
|---|
For comparison, last year (FY 2025-26) had six slabs: 0% to Rs 600K, 1% to Rs 1.2M, Rs 6,000 + 11% to Rs 2.2M, Rs 116,000 + 23% to Rs 3.2M, Rs 346,000 + 30% to Rs 4.1M, then Rs 616,000 + 35% — plus a 9% surcharge on tax where income exceeded Rs 10 million.
Common questions
How much tax on a Rs 100,000 monthly salary in FY 2026-27?
Rs 100,000/month is Rs 1,200,000 a year, the top of the 1% slab: tax is 1% of the Rs 600,000 above the tax-free limit = Rs 6,000 per year (Rs 500/month). Take-home is Rs 99,500/month. This didn’t change from last year — relief starts higher up.
How much tax on a Rs 300,000 monthly salary?
Rs 3,600,000 a year falls in the 25% slab: Rs 316,000 + 25% of the Rs 400,000 above Rs 3.2M = Rs 416,000 per year (≈ Rs 34,667/month), an 11.6% effective rate. Last year the same salary paid Rs 466,000 — the slab restructure saves Rs 50,000 a year. Try it in the calculator above.
What actually changed in the Finance Act 2026 for salaried people?
Three things: the six slabs became eight, so mid-range rates fell (23%→20% at Rs 2.2–3.2M, 30%→25% at Rs 3.2–4.1M, and new 29%/32% steps before the top rate); the 35% top rate now starts at Rs 7 million instead of Rs 4.1 million; and the 9% surcharge on salaried income above Rs 10 million was abolished. Incomes up to Rs 2.2 million a year (Rs ~183,000/month) pay exactly what they paid last year.
Is the tax calculated on my whole salary at my slab’s rate?
No — that’s the most common misconception. Each rate applies only to the slice of income inside its slab. Earning Rs 3.6 million doesn’t mean 25% of everything; it means 0% on the first Rs 600K, 1% on the next Rs 600K, 11% on the next Rs 1M, 20% on the next Rs 1M, and 25% only on the final Rs 400K. The slab-by-slab breakdown above shows your own numbers.
Does my employer deduct this monthly?
Yes — employers withhold salary tax at source each month based on your expected annual income. This calculator spreads the annual tax evenly (annual ÷ 12); a bonus month or a mid-year raise can shift individual months, but the annual total is what FBR settles on.
